Scottish SPCAA dead dog was discovered within a suitcase by a group of children in a wooded area of North Lanarkshire.
The Scottish SPCA and Police Scotland were called after a male Staffordshire bull terrier cross was found in a purple-wheeled holdall, partially wrapped in a child’s pink fleece top, near Alexander Street in Airdrie, on Sunday evening.
The animal was said to be around three years old and was wearing a black leather collar with a silver and gold dog on it.
Scottish SPCA inspectors are appealing to the public in an effort to find the owner of the holdall.
Inspector Robyn Myszor, said: “The dog was a white and tan male entire Staffordshire bull terrier cross. He was roughly around three years old and was wearing a black leather collar with a silver and gold dog on it.
“He was found by a group of children in a wooded area and the police were contacted.
“We are appealing for anyone who has seen someone with this particular holdall within the area around that time.
“If anyone has any information surrounding the circumstances, they should call the Scottish SPCA confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
