A major investigation is under way after burned human remains were discovered near a football pitch in North Lanarkshire.
The human remains were found in the Margaret Drive area of Motherwell around 9am on Saturday.
Police sealed off the area and a white tent was erected on a football pitch at the scene.
Officers remain in the area as enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
Police said the death was being treated as “unexplained”.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9am on Saturday, February 24, 2024 a body was discovered in the Margaret Drive area of Motherwell.
“Officers are at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
