Fire crews tackled a blaze after a bus was engulfed in flames, with a road in Greenock closed.

Police Scotland confirmed Inverkip Road was closed after 7am on Friday between Pennyfern Road and the roundabout at Barrs Cottage, near Lady Alice Primary.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called around 6.43am to reports of a bus on fire.

Later, images showed the McGills bus completely burned out with the roof exposed.

Three appliances were sent to the scene, where there are said to be no reported casualties.
