The MV Glen Sannox has been removed from service after a crack was discovered in the hull.
CalMac confirmed the vessel was removed from service on Friday, just two weeks after returning from planned works.
The crack was discovered on a weld seam on the vessel’s hull, which is close to the waterline.
A spokesperson for CalMac later said the crack is now above the waterline and dry ahead of inspection on Saturday.
The ferry operator said as a result, all MV Glen Sannox sailings on Saturday, March 15 have been cancelled.

CalMac added that MV Alfred’s passenger capacity has been extended effective on Saturday morning through until Monday.
“She will operate an extra single sailing from Brodick to Troon this evening and an extra return trip tomorrow evening,” CalMac said.
A shuttle service will operate between Lochranza – Claonaig, and extra staff will be present at each side to support customers.
“We apologise for the disruption, and our port teams and customer engagement centre will be working hard to contact affected customers,” the ferry operator added.
The decision comes just days after the vessel returned to service after planned works took place from February 24 to March 2.
The vessel had its first official sailing on January 13 departing from Troon.
