A carer has been removed from the register after he allegedly physically restrained a resident with dementia in an inappropriate manner.
Stewart Grant, who was employed as a senior carer, is believed to have held a vulnerable woman’s hands above her head whilst she stood against a wall on October 18, 2021.
It is also reported that the Campbeltown carer called the woman “evil” and told her she “should have been dead a long time ago”, whilst holding her wrists on October 21, 2021.
In a report the Scottish Social Services Council stated Mr Grant’s alleged actions showed a “pattern of concerning behaviour” and that a removal order was the only appropriate sanction.
The report read: “The behaviour is serious.
“You have failed to show understanding that any type of physical restraint on a resident suffering from dementia is not appropriate and the impact this could have on a resident causing them confusion, distress and fear.”
