A cannabis farm worth tens of thousands of pounds has been seized by police in Glasgow.

Local officers made the discovery following routine enquiries in Govanhill on Monday morning.

A teenager was arrested in connection with the find.

Glasgow South East Police posted a picture of the cultivation on Twitter, stating that it was worth around £100,000.

However, Police Scotland later confirmed the plants recovered had an estimated street value of £40,000.

Officers from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service helped dismantle the cultivation, which was made up of more than 100 plants.

A force spokesman said: “A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged drug offences.

“While on routine enquiries, at around 10.25am on Monday, January 6, officers discovered a cannabis cultivation in Allison Street in Govanhill.

“More than 100 plants were seized with an estimated street value of £40,000.

“The 19-year-old was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.”
