Workers at Capita Life and Pensions are to vote on strike action amid an ongoing dispute over pay.

Unite the Union said the staff were due a 2024 pay rise in April, but talks were postponed with the assurance that workers would be given a rise in October.

Unite claims this has not materialised despite the business reporting profits.

The ballot which opens on Wednesday across three Capita sites will ask if staff wish to take strike action.

Unite said disruption and delays could follow if industrial action takes place.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The conduct of Capita management towards their hardworking staff has been disgraceful.

“Capita’s bosses are hiding from their workers to avoid giving them fair pay. These employees have worked hard and brought in profits for Capita, yet they are being rewarded with a pay cut for 2024 as inflation continues to bite.”

The ballot closes at noon on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Capita declined to comment.
