iStockAn investigation has been launched after a car was torched during the early hours outside a home in Renfrewshire.
Emergency services were alerted to a Ford Focus on fire outside a property on John Lang Street in Johnstone at around 2.30am on Thursday.
The blaze was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
The incident is being treated as deliberate by detectives.
Detective Constable Naomi Irving said: “Luckily, no one was injured as a result of this incident, but it could’ve been much worse and spread to other vehicles nearby.
“Enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who in the area who may have information to please come forward.
“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage please review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0314 of September 10, 2026. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
