A care manager who embezzled £60,000 from a vulnerable service user has been struck from the register.

Jennifer Marshall stole thousands of pounds from the woman while employed by ICare Scotland in Glasgow over a four-year period between April 2018 and October 2022.

She was convicted of embezzlement at Glasgow Sheriff Court in March last year.

The Scottish Social Services Council described the victim as “socially isolated and totally dependent on carers”.

The watchdog added: “The service user had been a victim of financial exploitation in the past, so [Marshall] personally managed [the woman’s] finances and bank accounts to prevent this happening again.”

Marshall withdrew “substantial” sums from the woman’s account on various occasions without consent for her own financial gain.

The SSSC said Marshall had shown no insight or regret for her behaviour, and struck her from the caring register.

The notice came into effect on June 20.

ICare Group has been contacted for comment.
