A care worker who pushed a resident against a wall, causing him to fracture his shoulder, has been banned from the profession.

Helen Gibson also shouted and swore at the man during the incident at a HC-One Ltd care home in Glasgow on December 17, 2022.

The vulnerable resident fell to the ground after being pushed against the wall by Gibson in what the Scottish Social Services Council described as a “violent and spontaneous loss of self-control”.

Gibson was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow on December 5 last year of assaulting the man.

Following an investigation, the SSSC has determined Gibson should be struck from the register after causing the resident “distress, fear and alarm in an environment where he should feel safe and respected”.

The SSSC added that Gibson had “shown no insight, nor have you demonstrated any remorse or
apologised for the harm you caused”.

Gibson was removed from the register on April 17.
