Gangs of youths are gathering in the stairwells of Lanarkshire health centre, damaging vehicles and leaving locals “scared and intimidated”.
Police have urged parents to discourage their children from hanging around the area near the Houldsworth Centre following reports of anti-social behaviour.
The force says there has also been evidence of drug and alcohol misuse and that additional patrols will be in place in the area.
Community policing inspector Jim Mutter said: “We are growing increasingly concerned about the behaviour of young people gathering around the stairwells and car park at the Houldsworth Centre.
“There is clear evidence of drug and alcohol misuse in the area. Vehicles have been damaged, and members of the public are scared and intimidated by this behaviour.
“I would urge responsible parents to know where their children are and discourage them from gathering in this area. Local officers will be supporting staff from the Houldsworth Centre by undertaking directed patrols.
“All instances of anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly.”
