Two men in hospital and street closed after disturbance

Two men are in hospital with serious injuries after an incident in Glasgow city centre.

A 27-year-old man has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and a 65-year-old man has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the disturbance on Renfield Street.

The street is closed between Renfrew Street and Bath Street. Emergency services rushed to the scene after being called at around 4.55pm on Monday.

Police said they were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance involving two men.

Both men are being treated in hospital for serious injuries and officers continue to investigate while the area remains cordoned off.

Glasgow City Council said: “Renfield Street is currently closed to all traffic between Renfrew Street and Bath Street due to an ongoing police incident. Road users should avoid the area if possible.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a disturbance on Renfield Street, Glasgow, around 4.55pm on Monday, March 29.

“A 27-year-old man has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and a 65-year-old man has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Both men sustained serious injuries. Officers remain on scene carrying out enquiries into the incident.”
