The Clyde Tunnel was partially closed on Friday morning following a collision.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the southbound carriageway was closed at around 10.20am following a road traffic incident.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area following the incident.

A traffic bulletin read: “Following a Road Traffic Incident, the A739 Clyde Tunnel is currently closed Southbound.

“Road users are advised to seek an alternative route, delays should be expected.”

The local authority said the tunnel reopened around 30 minutes later.

The collision occurred as temperatures in the city plummeted to -6C overnight. Drivers have been warned to drive with care due to the cold and icy weather conditions.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
