Police recovered £185,000 worth of cocaine after stopping a van in Lanark.

Officers stopped a Ford Transit van on Mousemill Road around 6pm on October 14 before the haul was discovered.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective superintendent Steven Elliot said: “We will continue target those individuals and groups who seek to bring drugs into our communities.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy and we will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle this issue and make our communities safer.

“Information from the public is vital to our work and we would continue to ask anyone with knowledge or concerns about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101.
