EuroMillions winner and “lifelong Jags fan” Colin Weir will make a final visit to Partick Thistle’s Firhill as his funeral cortege will stop outside the stadium.
The dad-of-two – who won £161m in the lottery with his then wife Christine in 2011 – died on December 27 after a short illness.
Mr Weir, from Largs in North Ayrshire, passed away only weeks after completing a takeover of the Glasgow football club.
The 72-year-old former TV cameraman had promised to gift the 55% shareholding to a fan group by March.
His funeral service will take place at Partick Burgh Hall, Glasgow, next Tuesday and will be followed by a private cremation.
Before the service, the cortege will stop outside Firhill Stadium at 10.30am to “allow Colin a final visit to his beloved Partick Thistle”.
In a death notice, Mr Weir was described as “a Scottish patriot, philanthropist and Jags man to the end”.
His family have asked for mourners to make donations to the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust.
The Weirs – who last year confirmed they would divorce after 38 years of marriage – set up the trust in 2013.
As well as making a donation to a community football club in Largs, they also invested in Partick Thistle which led to the youth set-up being rebranded the Thistle Weir Youth Academy and a section of their Firhill Stadium being named the Colin Weir Stand.
The former couple’s £161m prize was the UK’s biggest win until October last year, when an anonymous ticketholder claimed a £170m jackpot.
