West Dunbartonshire Council has hit out at “mindless” vandals after a primary school’s play hut was torched.
The council said fire-raisers set the play area on the grounds of Kilbowie Primary School in Clydebank alight at the weekend, destroying a play hut.
Images shared on social media showed the structure burned out with debris on the playground.
The incident, which the council said was “particularly disturbing”, has been reported to Police Scotland.
A West Dunbartonshire Council statement on Facebook read: “It is extremely disappointing that mindless fire-raising over the weekend has destroyed a play hut at Kilbowie Primary School.
“We condemn all vandalism but this targeted attack on a well-loved children’s play area within a school is particularly disturbing.
“Assessment of the damage is underway and the matter has been reported to Police Scotland and we would urge anyone with information to contact them on 101.”
