Cyclist in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car

Police are making enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision and are urging witnesses to come forward.

A cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in East Kilbride.

At around 12.15pm on Monday, the 69-year-old male cyclist was involved in a collision with a red Suzuki Alto car on the A749 Glasgow Road.

He was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries while the male driver of the car was uninjured.

Police are making enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision and are urging witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder of the Road Policing Unit in Lanarkshire said: “Our enquiries to establish the circumstances which led to this collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 1477 of April 10, 2023.”
