One lane of the Clyde Tunnel has been closed during rush hour after ‘damage’ was sustained to the structure.

Traffic Scotland confirmed drivers heading north should expect heavy traffic on approach to the tunnel, as one lane has been closed as a result.

Drivers on the M8 heading eastbound are also said to be affected, with delays of approximately 15 minutes reported.

Traffic Scotland said: “Due to an ongoing incident the A739 Clyde Tunnel northbound is restricted.

“As a consequence this is causing traffic to queue back onto the M8 eastbound at Junction 25 and in turn causing delays.

“Motorists should expect longer than normal journey times.”

Stagecoach West said on X: “We’ve currently got severe delays on X19 service around the QEUH area due to an incident at Clyde tunnel which is also impacting services to Easterhouse.

“We’re so sorry if this is impacting your journey. We are trying to get to you as quickly as we can.”
