Sausages have been pulled from the shelves of a major UK supermarket after pieces of blue plastic were found inside them.

Morrisons has issued an urgent recall notice via The Food Standards Agency (FSA) for its The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages.

The affected products are the 400g packs with a best-before date of May 1, 2025.

The possible presence of small pieces of blue plastic makes the product unsafe to eat.

Customers who have purchased them are urged not to eat them.

Instead, they should return the products to the store from which they were bought for a refund or replacement.

Morrisons says no other products are known to be affected.

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all stores that are selling the product.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.

“No other products are affected by this issue.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
