A doctor accused of sexually assaulting two elderly women at a private hospital has been cleared by a jury.
Lawrence McAlpine, 69, was alleged to have groped them at Glasgow’s Ross Hall Hospital.
Court papers stated that McAlpine was acting in his capacity as a consultant doctor conducting medical examinations.
It was claimed that McAlpine touched the first woman – now aged 67 – on the breasts on July 21, 2021.
A second woman – now aged 70 – was also alleged to have been touched on the breasts by McAlpine on August 6, 2021.
McAlpine, of Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, denied two charges of sexual assault.
The jury returned a verdict on both charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court after a four-day trial.
Sheriff Daniel Kelly told him: “You have been found not guilty of both charges by the jury and you are now free to leave the court.”
