More than 40 fines were handed out over the weekend after visitors ignored warnings not to “risk lives” by parking illegally while making the most of the sunshine.
Car parks at popular tourist hotspots reached capacity early on Saturday and Sunday with visitors told enforcement officers were out to tackle dangerous parking.
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park said car parks at Rowardennan, Tarbet, Falls of Falloch, Loch Lubnaig, Ben Ledi and Ben A’an were all full, or had very few spaces shortly after 10am on Saturday.
TwitterBen A’an, Loch Venachar North, Loch Venachar South, Ben Ledi, Loch Lubnaig, Rowardennan, Arrochar, Ardgarten and Inveruglas car parks also filled up on Sunday morning.
Over the weekend 41 PCN’s were issued across the Stirling Council area, eight outside of the park and 33 within the National Park’s boundary.
A Stirling Council spokesperson said: “Over spring we’ve been reminding visitors that it’s down to you to make the right choices when visiting Stirling’s beauty spots.
“This was another busy weekend where unacceptable illegal parking brought danger to our residents and visitors and our enforcement teams worked alongside partners to keep people safe and the roads clear.
“We all know how important it is to get out and about and enjoy the freedoms we’re being granted, but we still need visitors to park responsibly, avoid crowded spaces, pick up their litter and consider how their actions impact others.”
During sunny weather in April, fines were handed out at beauty spots as they attracted visitors from across Scotland.
On Saturday morning a spokesperson for Stirling Council said: “Plan ahead if you’re heading to Stirling’s rural beauty spots today.
“If somewhere is busy, head elsewhere. Don’t park illegally and risk lives. Our Enforcement Teams will be working with partners to keep people safe and roads clear.”
