A man will stand trial accused of causing the death of a pedestrian by running him over.
Martin Hume, 38, allegedly struck John Conway in Bishopbriggs, on January 20, 2023.
Court papers state Hume was behind the wheel of a Kia Sportage on Auchinairn Road.
It is alleged that he drove without due care or attention or without reasonable consideration for other people using the road.
The charge says Hume, of Bishopbriggs, failed to maintain proper observations and did not see Mr Conway.
It is stated that Mr Conway was a pedestrian crossing the road at the time.
Allegations say Hume emerged from a junction and took a right turn when it was not safe to do so.
It is stated that the manoeuvre caused Hume’s vehicle to collide with Mr Conway which caused damage to the car.
Mr Conway died at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital 11 days later from his injuries.
Hume pled not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to causing Mr Conway’s death by careless driving.
Dominic Sellar, defending, told a hearing: “It is accepted that the cause of death is linked to the collision.”
The lawyer stated that counsel Allan Macleod has been appointed and the defence are waiting on an expert report.
Sheriff Tom Hughes fixed a trial for March this year which is expected to last approximately three days.
