A driver will stand trial accused of a hit-and-run on a woman to the danger of her life.

Jason Rae, 53, allegedly struck the woman in Glasgow’s Merchant City on June 10, 2023.

Court papers state Rae drove without due care and attention on Bell Street.

It is claimed that Rae failed to maintain a proper lookout and caused his vehicle to strike her on the body.

The charge goes on to say Rae, of the city’s Mount Vernon, caused his vehicle to drag the 32-year-old along the ground.

The victim is stated to have suffered serious injuries to her permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and danger of life.

Rae faces a further charge of failing to stop to give his name and address after the incident.

The woman was taken to hospital where her condition was described as “critical” at the time.

Rae pleaded not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court and a trial has been set for August this year.

A pre-trial hearing was also fixed for July.
