A man has died following a crash involving two cars on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.
Police closed the east junction bypass at Annan after a crash involving a red Suzuki Ignis and a black Nissan Pulsar at around 1.50pm on Thursday.
The driver of the Suzuki, a 66-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 56-year-old man, the driver of the Nissan, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
The road re-opened at around 10.20pm.
Sergeant Neil Moffat said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and they have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
“Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. In addition, if you have dash-cam please check it to see if there I anything that could assist our investigation.”
