A man has died following a car crash in Dumfries and Galloway.
The 32-year-old driver was the sole occupant of a silver Renault Clio when it crashed on the A74(M) near to J20 Eaglesfield northbound at around 4.05am on Monday.
No other vehicles were involved.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.
Police are investigating the crash and are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Leigh McCulloch said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time.
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.”
A section of the road was closed while investigation works were carried out.
At 11.36am, Traffic Scotland stated that all lanes were back up and running, tweeting: “Traffic in the area is still looking slow.”
