A 51-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Dumfries and Galloway.

The collision occurred on the B721 between Annan and Gretna near Dornock at around 9.45am on Thursday morning.

The incident involved a grey Mini Cooper and a black Range Rover.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Mini was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Range Rover, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.

The road remains closed for crash investigation work, with officers appealing to witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Andrew Hogg said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area around the time of the crash please check any dash-cam footage you have and make contact with us if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”
