An alleged hit and run driver was arrested after being hunted down with a police helicopter’s thermal imaging camera.
The driver is alleged to have first collided with a parked vehicle on Dalry Road, North Ayrshire, at 7.40pm on Tuesday.
Police said the car then hit another vehicle near Kilbirnie also on the B780. There were no reported injuries.
Police Scotland’s Air Unit was scrambled and used the helicopter’s thermal detection to assist officers on the ground to trace the driver.
An image shared by the Air Unit shows the driver being stopped by police.
The force said a man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences.
An Air Unit spokesperson said: “Assisted Police Scotland North Ayrshire with tracing a driver who made off after a series of hit and runs.
“The driver was arrested nearby after a search using our thermal imaging camera.”
