A drunken man who brutally assaulted a woman while she held a baby in her arms has been jailed for 20 months.
Gary Rose, 27, turned on the woman at a property in Glasgow’s Broomhill on January 15, 2025.
Rose was enraged after the woman confronted him about his drinking.
He repeatedly punched the victim who clung onto the two-month-old, who was in their care, during the attack.
Rose then took the boy from the injured woman, who fled the property to safety.
Rose pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her injury.
Sheriff Andrew McIntyre ordered that Rose be under supervision for ten months upon his release from prison.
A 12-month non-harassment order was also put in place restricting Rose’s contact with the woman.
Prosecutor Jenny Reid said: “[The woman] told him to get to his bed as he was drinking and trying to start an argument.”
Rose initially left the property and returned three hours later when he continued to be “boisterous.”
Ms Reid added: “[The woman] went to the bedroom with the young child.
“She had the baby in her arms when Rose started punching her to the face three or four times causing her nose to bleed.
“She still had the child in her arms, making sure that he was okay.
“Rose then took the baby from her arms and tried to put [the woman] out.”
The woman went to the concierge for help and the police were contacted.
Officers found Rose with the baby in his arms at the property and he was arrested.
The victim was stated to have bruises to her head and a bloody nose.
It was revealed that Rose has a previous conviction for an assault to severe injury and danger of life.
