A 93-year-old man has died in hospital the day after being struck by a car in Kilmarnock.
Emergency services were called to a crash involving a green BMW 525 tds touring and a pedestrian on Fowlds Street at around 2.40pm on Wednesday.
The man was taken to hospital, but later died on Thursday.
Police closed the road for around seven hours and it reopened at 9.30pm.
Sergeant Brian Simpson, Ayrshire Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died as a result of this crash.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“I would also appeal for anyone who was in the area and has dash cam or private CCTV footage which could assist to get in touch.”
