An elderly woman has been robbed of jewellery by two men who offered to carry out work in her garden in Clydebank.

The 79-year-old was working in her garden on Stevenson Street around 11am on August 18 when two men approached and offered to do the work for her.

After the work was completed, one of the suspects asked to use her toilet.

The woman then paid the men who left in a silver/grey saloon-type car. She later discovered that jewellery had been stolen from her home.

The first suspect is described as between 20 to 30 years old, around 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build, with brown hair and wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as between 20 to 30 years old, taller, of slim build, with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

Inspector Emma O’Reilly said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and we would urge local residents to be aware of anyone arriving unannounced at your property.

“Householders should ensure that doors are secure, even when at home and use a door chain. Do not let anyone in until you are certain of who they are, or who they claim to represent.

“We would also encourage people to report any suspicious activity to us – we take all reports seriously and will investigate them fully.”
