A trial involving 11 people accused of sexually abusing and assaulting a number of children has begun in Glasgow.
The seven men and four women face an indictment listing a total of 32 charges at the city’s High Court.
It is alleged two of the children were made to take part in seances leading them to believe they could see “spirits and demons” and had “metamorphosed into animals”.
Several of the accused face multiple charges of rape.
Five are accused of attempted murder after a child was trapped in a microwave.
Other charges include causing children to watch and video abuse and to take part in sexual activity.
It is also alleged that a child was made to courier drugs and that children were forced to consume drugs and alcohol.
The 11 accused deny all of the charges against them.
Lord Beckett told jurors the trial could last at least five and a half weeks.
