Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the A726 near East Kilbride on Thursday following a multi-vehicle crash.

Emergency services made their way to the scene after receiving reports of a incident between a car and a stationary van at around 8.55am on October 3.

Four fire appliances were dispatched to the incident alongside two ambulance and two special operations response teams.

Three people were treated by medical teams at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.55am on Thursday, October 3, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a stationary van on the A726 between Newton Mearns and East Kilbride.

“Emergency services attended and the occupants were checked over at the scene.

“Recovery was arranged for the vehicles.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 9.03am on Thursday, October 3 to reports of a road traffic collision near East Kilbride.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the A726, where firefighters were met by a collision involving three vehicles.

“Crews worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene. There were no casualties.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 09.11am to attend a road traffic collision on the A726. We dispatched two ambulances and two special operations response teams (SORT) to the scene. Three patients were treated and released at scene.”
