The family of a missing man have been informed after a body was found in Glasgow as the investigation into the “unexplained” death continues.
The discovery was made in the Springboig Avenue area of the city at around 5pm on July 13.
Forensic officers were seen examining a wooded area, which was cordoned off following the discovery.
The family of John Hunter, who was last seen on July 3 in the Fastnet Street area of Cranhill, has now been informed.
STV NewsFormal identification is yet to be made.
An investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing.
A Police Scotland statement said: “On Monday, July 13, 2026, the body of a man was found in Springboig Avenue. Glasgow.
“Formal identification is still to take place; however, the family of John Hunter, who was last seen in the Cranhill area on Friday, July 3, 2026, has been informed.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A postmortem examination will take place in due course.”
