A ferry service has been cancelled after a crew member was identified as a close contact of a positive Covid-19 case.

At least six trips between Wemyss Bay and Rothesay due to take place on Wednesday are off as a result as the MV Courisk is withdrawn from service.

The 07:05, 09:05 and 11:05 services from Rothesay and the journeys leaving Wemyss Bay at 08:05, 10:05 and 12:15 have all been cancelled.

The vessel will now be deep cleaned and full crew replaced and will be reviewed again at midday to see if the 1.05pm from Rothesay should take place as planned.

The crew member classed as a close contact will be required to take a PCR test.

The MV Argyle will operate the route a single vessel timetable.

A spokesperson for CalMac Ferries said: “We recognise that disrupting a service can be very challenging for our customers and the communities we serve and apologise for the disruption this will cause.”
