iStockFirefighters are battling a blaze which took hold of an industrial building in South Lanarkshire during the early hours of Friday morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire affecting a single-storey unit on Alleysbank Road in the Rutherglen area at around 7.07am.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services has sent four appliances to the scene to extinguish the flames.
Crews remain in attendance.
It is not known whether there are any injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Residents in the area of Alleysbank Road in Rutherglen are asked to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to a fire at a premises.
“The fire was reported around 7.35am and emergency services are in attendance.
“Please avoid the area where possible.”
