Fire crews were called to refill a pond within an East Kilbride nature reserve after water levels significantly dropped.
The local station was alerted to the community’s concerns regarding the tadpoles at Glen Esk on Monday.
Residents attempted to replenish the pond using buckets and bottles after the water level noticeably dropped due to the dry conditions.
Whilst carrying out their duties in the area, the fire crew assisted the community and added water to the pond.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Our local crews based at East Kilbride received a call on Monday, May 12, regarding concerns about the pond within the nature reserve at Glen Esk.
“Due to recent dry conditions, the water level had dropped significantly, and local residents were worried about the survival of the tadpoles in the area.
“Firefighters were informed that members of the community had already been attempting to replenish the pond using buckets and bottles.
“Our crews were out in the area carrying out their duties and took the opportunity to stop by Glen Esk and assist by adding water to the pond.
“They were glad to support the community’s efforts and do what we could to help preserve the local wildlife.”
