Fire crews descended upon a drain in Glasgow city centre after a blaze affected underground cables.
Three appliances and specialist resources were called to smoke coming from a drain near Renfield Street at around on 2.24pm on Sunday.
Crews left the scene around 6pm. There were no casualties.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 2.24pm on Sunday, 14 December to reports of a smoke from a drain near to Renfield Street, Glasgow.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene where the crews discovered a fire affecting underground cables.
“Firefighters worked with Scottish Power to ensure the area was made safe and left the scene at 5.58pm.
“There were no reported casualties.”
A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said, “A fault in an underground link box affected supply to customers in Renfield Street. We isolated the circuit to allow us to work safely and swiftly to restore customer supplies and we’re working on a permanent repair.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their patience.”
