Residents are being urged to keep windows and doors closed as fire crews battled a blaze at an abandoned building in Kirkintilloch during the night.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to the scene on Canal Street at around 11pm on Monday, before crews from a further five appliances were deployed.
It is understood that the fire took place at an abandoned building near the Campsie View Care Home, which has not been affected.
One local business, House of Hemp, told STV News that it was also unaffected, and it was open today.
As of 8am on Tuesday morning, two appliances, including a high-reach vehicle, remained at the scene.
A Police Scotland statement read: “Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at an ongoing incident in Canal Street, Kirkintilloch.
“They request that all residents in the vicinity keep their windows closed and that persons avoid the area if possible.”
