A firearm, ammunition and quantity of drugs have been recovered during police raids in Glasgow.

Police officers executed a search warrant at addresses in Lendel Place in Kinning Park and Bankhall Street in Govanhill on June 28.

Various drugs including cocaine and cannabis were seized as well as the firearm, ammunition and a five-figure sum of cash.

Two men, aged 19 and 34, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 1.

Detective Sergeant James Kydd said: “Police Scotland is committed to removing illegal substances from our communities and will take all measures to disrupt those involved.

“This arrest underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
