Firefighters tackling huge blaze at former primary school in North Lanarkshire

Fire crews are battling a huge blaze at a former primary school in Coatbridge.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at around 5.20pm to the incident at the former Greenhill Primary School on West George Street.

Six appliances and two high reach appliances were sent to the scene.

Road closures are in place on West George Street at Stewart Street, and Coltswood Road is closed at Inveresk Place. 

Road users are being urged to use alternative routes, and people living in the area are being asked to keep windows and doors closed.
