STV NewsA former care home worker is to stand trial charged with killing a 90-year-old resident.
Helen Gibson, 63, is accused of attacking Leo McGuigan on December 17, 2022.
The incident is said to have occurred at the Village Care Home in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire.
Prosecutors claim Gibson did shout and swear at the pensioner.
She is said to pushed Mr McGuigan, causing him to strike a wall and fall to the ground.
The indictment states he was severely hurt and that he later passed away at Glasgow Royal Infirmary on January 4, 2023.
The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow last week.
Gibson, of Muirhead, North Lanarkshire, faces a charge of culpable homicide.
Gibson’s lawyer, Patricia Baillie, stated: “She pleads not guilty.”
Thomas Ross KC is due to lead the defence team at trial.
Miss Baillie went on: “We are not prepared for trial. An explanation is outlined.
“Senior Counsel (Mr Ross) has only just had the opportunity to meet the accused, but he thinks it is appropriate that a trial be fixed at this juncture.”
Prosecutor Mark Mohammed KC agreed with the request.
Lord Arthurson told the hearing: “I will fix a trial for five days from September 30, 2025.”
Gibson remains on bail meantime.
After the hearing, a spokesperson for the Village Care Home – run by HC-One – said Gibson no longer works there or for the company.
The statement added: “We have supported the police throughout their investigations and will continue to cooperate fully as this matter progresses in the courts.”
