A former soldier raped two women and subjected them to violent assaults.

Patrick Queen was found guilty of 11 charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 37-year-old admitted abusing steroids and being violent but insisted any sexual contact was consensual.

But the jury rejected his claims and Queen faces jail when he is sentenced next month.

The crimes were committed between 2018 and 2023 in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire.

He subjected this first victim to regular abusive tirades and physically assaulted her.

Queen admitted he was violent towards the second woman.

“I have to take accountability and accept it,” he said.

The ex-soldier told jurors: “I was a monster, I was an animal. My behaviour was inexcusable.”

However, he also claimed during the trial: “I stand before you a different person.”

Under cross-examination, prosecutor Imran Bashir put to Queen there were “two Patricks” – one who could be “pleasant and charming”, the other “jealous, insecure… who could be abusive”.

After the verdicts were announced, Queen turned to hurl remarks towards both victims in court and to police.

He was immediately escorted back to the cells as the hearing continued in his absence.

Judge Alistair Watson told the jury they had had to listen to evidence of an “unpleasant and shocking nature”.

He added, as a result, counselling would be available should any of them need it.

Sentencing was adjourned for reports.
