A former youth footballer has appeared in court in connection with the death of a teenager in an alleged hit and run.
Ciaran Dickson, 20, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 20, accused of causing the death of Aidan Pilkington.
The 18-year-old, who worked at McDonald’s on Crow Road, was struck down at around 12.20am on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
Dickson faces five charges including failure to stop and causing death by dangerous driving.
Dickson, of Erskine, is also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Aidan had left Hyndland Secondary School that summer and was going to be moving to Dundee just seven days later to begin studying at Dundee University.
He was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His family said he was “treasured”.
A fundraiser set up by his McDonald’s colleagues to support Aidan’s family raised more than £10,000.
Dickson made no plea and has been released on bail.
He is due to return to court at a later date that has yet to be set.
