Four people are in hospital with serious injuries following a crash involving three vehicles in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called to a crash at around 4.25pm on Tuesday on the A745 Castle Douglas to Dalbeattie road, near to Allanbank Farm.

The collision involved a white Fiat Multijet motor van, a red Peugeot 207 car and a brown Honda CR-V SUV.

Four people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for around 11 hours to allow for crash investigations to take place.

Police constable Maxwell, of Castle Douglas Road Policing, said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision, and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have been travelling on that stretch of road at that time to check any dashcam footage and contact us in order to aid our investigation.”
