Four people are in hospital following a serious two-car crash near a dairy in Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A760 between Largs and Kilbirnie, near the Mills Milk dairy, at around 9.30am on Sunday.

Two cars – a blue Renault Twingo and a black Kia Soul – were involved in the crash.

A 20-year-old female passenger from the Renault was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries. Her condition is currently unknown.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Renault, and the driver and passenger from the Kia – women aged 63 and 71, respectively – were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The road was closed for almost five hours, until around 2pm, to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances which led to this collision are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who may have information which could help to come forward. We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1066 of November 27.”
