A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a dad-of-two who was struck by a car while making his way home from a night out in South Lanarkshire.

The incident occurred on Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton in the early hours of Sunday when a pedestrian was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia.

Emergency services attended the scene at around 12.35am, and the 43-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

He has now been named by his family as John Provan, who revealed he had been making his way home from a night out before the crash.

The 43-year-old leaves behind his partner Natalie and two children, John, 25, and Libby, 18.

A fundraiser has been launched on behalf of the local community to help the family with funeral costs.

The GoFundMe read: “Hi, On behalf of the community, I was asked by several people if they could make a donation towards John’s funeral arrangements, but instead of me taking the money, I have permission from the family and I set this up.

“The incident happened around 12.35am on Sunday, June 1, 2025 where John was making his way home after a night out where he tragically passed away.

“John, only 43 years old, has left behind his long-term partner Natalie and two children, John, 25, and Libby, 18, who had to be told this sad news that would now impact them for the rest of their lives.

“We are raising money to help take the pressure off this family at this unimaginable heartbreaking time with any funeral costs, and give John the send off he truly deserves, it doesn’t need to be much just anything you can spare would be truly appreciated.

“We send all our love and deepest condolences to John’s partner Natalie and his beloved family during this time, and we keep them in our prayers.”

“Thanks Again.”
