A “heartbroken” mum has launched a fundraiser for her dog, who is fighting for his life after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run.
Ashley Kerr, from Glasgow, says her family have been left devastated after her “beloved” Shih Tzu, Woody, was knocked down outside the family’s home in Ruchill.
She said that the car was “driving at speed” before the driver, a woman, got out and apologised before driving away.
Following an emergency CT scan, the vet found that two-year-old Woody had suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured ribs, bleeding in his lung, a small fracture to his spine, and chest trauma and needed a metal plate in his leg.
Now, Ashley has now started a GoFundMe to raise money, saying the next three days are “critical”, as if they are unable to pay for surgery, Woody may need to be put down.

“My heart is honestly broken”, Ashley told STV News.
“He needs three lots of surgeries costing between £3,000 to £5,000 each. Every day he’s in ICU, it costs £500.
“He is the most loving little thing. He is honestly just like a little baby. He loves getting curled up at night with a blanket and dozing off all cosy.
“My kids are absolutely devastated.”
Wendy has said that if Woody survives until Monday, he will undergo surgery, which could cost more than £20,000.
The fundraiser, which the mum said she was “embarrassed to start”, has so far raised over £2,800.
She added, “It’s looking like the bill to cover everything may be over £20,000, and so many people have been asking if they could donate, but to be honest, we were pretty embarrassed to start a GoFundMe.
“But it was our only option. If we couldn’t pay, he would have to be put down, and I couldn’t let that be an option.
“We’re hopeful, as the surgeon said, he would have a good quality of life after surgery.”
