Gangland boss Steven Daniel has been arrested after an early-morning raid over organised crime in Glasgow.
It is understood that Daniel, 46, was arrested by police around 6am on Wednesday at a property in Garthamlock in the north of the city.
Officers from the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit arrested Daniel and a 39-year-old man in connection with serious and organised crime, firearms and drugs offences.
The 39-year-old has also been arrested at another address in the north of the city in connection with conspiracy to murder.
Assistant Chief Constable David Ferry said: “The Chief Constable has made it clear that those intent on being involved in serious and organised crime will be brought to justice. This enforcement action underlines that commitment.
“We will continue to take strong action and to use every tool and tactic available to relentlessly pursue those involved in serious criminality who seek to profit from the harm and misery they cause to communities in Scotland.
“We do need the support of our communities to do this. Anyone with information about serious and organised crime is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101.
