GlasGLOW has opened in the city’s Botanic Gardens for its sixth year with a sold out weekend at the Ghostbusters-inspired show.
The immersive light installation route includes a trip inside Kibble Palace for the first time since before Covid.
The event, which is running until November 12, pays tribute to iconic 80s movies including Ghostbusters with special appearances from the Ecto-mobile and a 20ft marshmallow man.
The show is described as “bursting with amazing immersive light installations and interactive elements”, with photo opportunities and the event’s street food village, all set to a soundtrack composed by local sound designers – Kev Murray and Novasound with Grant Anderson returning as lead lighting designer.
The GlasGLOW Pumpkin Patch has also returned alongside a “spooky zone dedicated to Possesed Pumpkins” with fire effects, Don’t Cross the Streams – an “electrifying” zone where the Botanics’ trees are covered in neon lights which come to life – and Ghost Trap – an interactive element where people can donate £5 to the itison Pumpkin Fund to unleash the ghosts.
Organisers at GlasGLOW also announced last week that ticketholders will be offered free and half-price travel to the show as part of its partnership with First Bus.
When booking on the First Bus app on the day of travel, GlasGLOW ticketholders will be able to get free FirstDay Adult tickets when travelling to the event after 7pm and half price FirstDay Adult tickets when travelling to the event before 7pm.
The last remaining tickets for the event can be purchased at the itison website.
