A four-year-old girl was rushed to hospital following the collision around 3pm on Tuesday.

A child is fighting for her life after being hit by a car near a primary school in Glasgow.

The four-year-old girl was struck by a white MG HS car on Cumberland Street outside Blackfriars Primary School in the Gorbals around 3pm on Tuesday.

Two paramedic response units, a critical care paramedic, an ambulance and a trauma team, were sent to the scene, and the girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children.

Her condition is described as critical.

The driver of the car, a 57-year-old man, was not injured.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with everyone involved and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We are asking anyone with information, including dash-cam footage or private CCTV, to get in touch if they can assist with our investigation.”
